I have been working with dogs for many years and provide pet dog training for puppies, sports and activities. I offer both 1-2-1 and group classes and workshops from time to time. All training is based on kind, compassionate and up to date methods along with a big dose of fun and games for good measure!
With much choice on offer it is difficult to decide where to go for the right training for your dog. I can give you peace of mind that your dog is in kind hands and can enjoy his/her training session with reward and fun based training, whilst better understanding individual needs.
I endeavour to help you reach your training goals and work to get the best from each session. If this is not possible, then I will do my best to find another trainer who can help you.
My love of dogs is at the heart of my training methods. Over the years I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in both competition work and in helping owners to build a brilliant, fun, loving, working relationship with their canine companion.
My experiences, studies and in depth understanding of dogs, enables me to cover a wide spectrum of different needs of dogs and their owners. I have undertaken many studies in canine behaviour and training, and I am a certified dog trainer to Master’s level, gaining a vast numbers of certificates along the way.
My experience ranges from boarding, training and behaviour modification, of which I have over 20 years of experience, to working with small groups of dog handlers on a weekly basis or 1-2-1 behaviour therapy. I love to see the connection between each dog and its owner, watching and assisting as the relationship develops and the trust between each owner and dog grows. Every relationship between dog and owner is unique and personalities and characters of each dog and owner are very different. I love using my wide knowledge of different behaviour types and characteristics to assist in making the relationship between every owner and their dog as positive, strong and understanding of one another as possible.
I am passionate about helping dog handlers through those trickier stages, particularly the adolescent stage. It is wonderful to be able to help both handler and dog come together during this time and embrace this phase with fun strategies for problem prevention while also providing a healthy outlet for the enthusiasm and intelligence that each dog has to offer.
Working as a team with your canine friend in competitions is a true testament to the partnership that you have developed with your dog. I enjoy competing in dog sports with my border collies and have qualified twice for Discover Dogs, one of the biggest Dog events in the UK, I have also competed in Crufts in 2016 with my dog Heidi. I relish in the opportunity to pass on my passion and enthusiasm for dog sports and regularly run training sessions in Competitive Obedience, Hoopers, Canine Conditioning and Working Gun dogs, Tricks to Champion level and Scent Games.
Over the years I have mentored and developed the knowledge and skills set of many other canine trainers and have worked as a tutor in canine behaviour for several years for a leading online course provider in canine behaviour. I have also used my facilities and knowledge to hold practical study days for canine behaviour students. Keen to share my knowledge and understanding of canine behaviour and training to other professionals, I have designed and tutored a level 5 accredited course in dog training for professionals.
Most of all I pride myself in my holistic approach to training and behaviour. Using positive, science-based techniques to build trust and confidence between dogs and their owners. Creating a force free, fun way to connect and enhance the very special bond that you share with your dog.
